This resource is a user-friendly clinical decision support tool available for clinicians involved in midwifery care. The JBI Database of Evidence-Based Recommended Practice makes up the Manual Builder. Evidence-Based Recommended Practice are processes of care that describe and/or recommend certain practices on selected clinical topics and are based on the best available evidence. They consist of an equipment list, a recommended practice, an adjoining evidence summary (where evidence is available), and accompanying occupational health and safety logos.
Users are able to search, retrieve, print (in either pdf or html), or upload from the Manual Builder to enhance their own decision support resources. It also contains the capacity to build customised manuals using selections of Recommended Practice. This saves smaller organisations considerable resource related costs, and assists larger organisations to decrease variability in practice, improving the capacity to accurately measure practice outcomes and consequently the quality of care.
Manuals can be tailored to meet the needs of each organisation by allowing the user to decide which Recommended Practice to include, which parts of the Recommended Practice to include (referred to as customisable fields) and whether to include free text specific to their facility. Users are also encouraged to submit their organisational logo to JBI for uploading so all manuals created will include their logo. For further information on logo submission, please contact JBI: jbi@adelaide.edu.au
To construct manuals using the JBI Online Manual Builder you must be a corporate member of JBI or a subscriber to JBI COnNECT and have an advanced user password. For further information on advanced user passwords please contact JBI: jbi@adelaide.edu.au
